from a site showcasing art. nothing but photos of art on gallery walls, many with people half in the shot. but this particular shot is pretty cool on its own.

 
 
Its been sometime since I’ve reviewed or talked about anything cultural or otherwise – so here goes. Gaspar Noe is the, dare i say, groundbreaking filmmaker of the decade, or at least the past 8 years. His last film Irreversible (2002) was probably one of the hardest films I’ve ever sat throu. If shocking, uber-real depictions of the darkest side human behavior isn’t your thing, or doesn’t arouse a certain degree of curiosity, I’d say probably steer clear of his films.

Enter the Void, as the title implies enters some pretty dark places. The log line of the film is “A drug-dealing teen is killed in Japan, after which he reappears as a ghost to watch over his sister. ” Its a wild ride… an almost 3 hour long Cannes version of psychedelic filmmaking that really pushes the boundaries of conventional structure and story telling.

Saw this on the westside at the NuArt. cool place, classic films, i shall return!
